The Kannada Department is in existence since the establishment of SSRG Arts & Commerce College for Women, Raichur. Eminent Professors have worked in this department. Our department result is between 95% to 100%. Currently two Assistant Professors are working in this department; Dr. Rajeshwari & Sri. Giriyappa. Both have published Articles, attended seminars, Kavya sammelana & various functions.
A Brief History of Kannada Department
The Department of Kannada was established in the year 1970 and is one of the oldest department in our college. Late Dr. Mandakini was the first Head of the Department of Kannada.
Many were the Stalwarts:

➤ Dr. Sheela Kumari Das. Associate Professor.
➤ Dr. Basavalinga Soppimath. Associate Professor.

The department is running successfully and fetching good results. Presently there are good number of experienced and dedicated faculty involved themselves for betterment of the department by conducting Research in their respective fields.
VISION: All round development of Students of Kannada in their Linguistic, Literary and Cultural Knowledge.
MISSION : To learn and use properly, to communicate effectively, to know literature and culture, to Serve our "Mother India".
AIMS:-
- To create awareness of Kannada language and culture.
- To make the students aware of the rich culture and literary heritage of
Karnataka.
- To make them responsible citizens of the country.
OBJECTIVES:-
- To bring awareness among the students with relevance to Kannada
literature in the present age of Globalization.
- To develop Language Skills.

ಬಿ.ಎ ಐಚ್ಛಿಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಟ್ಟು ಐದು ಅವಧಿಗೆ ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಯ ವಿಸ್ತ್ರತ ಪರಿಚಯ ಮಾಡಿಸಲಾಗುವುದು ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಚರಿತ್ರೆ ಕನ್ನಡ ವ್ಯಾಕರಣ, ಭಾಷಾ ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ, ಕನ್ನಡ ಕಾವ್ಯ ಮೀಮಾಂಸೆ ಛಂದಸ್ಸು ಇವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಪರಿಣತಿ ಸಾಧಿಸುವುದು ಆಧುನಿಕೋತ್ತರ ಕಾಲಘಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಭಾಷೆಯ ಬಳಕೆಯ ಬಗೆಗೆ ಪರಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಬೆಳೆಸಲಾಗುವುದು |
