Introduction
The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) was established in 1920 under the Indian Red Cross Society Act: The Indian Red Cross Society Act was passed in 1920, and the society was formally constituted in June of that year. Sir William Malcolm Hailey was elected as the first chairman of the society. The IRCS is a member of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement (ICRC), the world’s largest independent humanitarian organization.

Karnataka State Branch
The Karnataka State Branch of the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) was established in 1921. The IRCS was established in 1920 under the Indian Red Cross Society Act, which was passed by the Indian Legislative Council on March 17, 1920. The IRCS is a voluntary humanitarian organization that aims to reduce and prevent human suffering and promote peace.
Here are some of the activities of the Karnataka State Branch of the IRCS:
- Blood bank : The IRCS has a 24/7 blood bank that collects blood from individuals, industries, educational institutions, and corporate offices. The blood bank uses a VITROS 3600 machine to test blood for HIV, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Malaria, and Syphilis.
- TB Control Project : A project funded by USAID and UK aid.
- Urban Family Welfare Centre : A center that cares for mothers and children.
- Red Cross Opticals : An optical unit that sells low-cost optics.
- Youth Red Cross : A group movement for students in colleges.
S.S.R.G Youth Red Cross Wing
As per the direction of District youth Red Cross Society, Raichur S. S. R. G.Youth Red Cross Wing was started on 2016.Sri Nandagopal was the Principal. Since 2023 Youth Red Cross was merged with N. S. S. N. S. S. Officers were performed activities of Y. R. C.
In 2022-23 academic year Y. R. C. The wing was separated from N. S. S.
