Taranath Shikshana Samsthe, considering the importance of and need for higher education for women started S.S.R.G. College for women in 1970. It is a premier institution of women’s education in the backward district of Raichur. It was inaugurated by the then Governor, His Excellency Sri Dharmaveera under the president ship of Sri Veerendra Patil, the honorable chief minister then.
The college, on the completion of its glorious existence of twenty five years, celebrated the Silver Jubilee during the year 1995-96, on a grand- scale. Earlier the college was affiliated to Karnataka University, Dharawad, later on it was shifted to Gulbarga University, Gulbarga in 1982.
At present, the college is affiliated to Karnataka State Women’s University, Bijapur, in conformity with The Karnataka University (Amendment) Act 2003.The College has been successfully catering to the educational needs of the women of this region, since its inception. The college is committed to the noble cause of providing quality education so as to empower the women folk.
The college, persistently, motivates the students through counseling to pursue higher education and to face competitive examinations with cutting edge. Such prowessed leaders of iconic qualities can lead a pack of cards from the front both at home and outside. The college offered to NAAC assessment in the year 2004 and has been accredited at ‘B’ grade level. Thus, the college has joined the main stream of accredited collages at national level.
